Serge Rachmaninoff (1873 - 1943)
Russian-born classical composer known for his haunting, emotion-laden melodies. His "Rhapshody on a Theme from Paganini" is still very popular today. After the Russian Revolution, Rachmaninoff took
up residence in Switzerland and the U.S., dividing his time between two residences.

Richard Rodgers (1902 - 1979)
Legendary composer of great show music. One of the most talented and prolific composers of the 20th century. Best remembered today for his collaborations with Lorenz Hart (Rodgers & Hart) and
later with Oscar Hammerstein II (Rodgers & Hammerstein). Worked mostly on stage, but also personally supervised all of his stage musicals that were brought to the screen. That's Richard Rodgers

Sigmund Romberg (1887 - 1951)
Born in Hungary; moved to the US in 1909.
Romberg struggled along for a while, but by 1915 or so, his career was shaping up. One of his first hits was a one-step called "Leg of Mutton." It wasn't long before he was working for the Schubert
Brothers on Broadway, and really came to prominence with scores for musicals such as "The Student Prince in Heidelberg," "Maytime," "Desert Song," "New Moon" and many others. Many of these were
brought to the screen by Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald. The story of his life is portrayed by Jose Ferrer in the film Deep in My Heart, 1954.

Prominent composer born in Pesaro, Italy. Probably best remembered today for "The Barber of Seville" and "William Tell," though he wrote more than 30 operas and many other classical compositions. One of the all-time greats!
