S. Z. Sakall (1884 - 1955)
(aka "Cuddles" Sakall)
Given name: Eugene Gero Szakall; born in Hungary. Character actor on stage and in vaudeville. In films from 1916; in Hollywood films from around 1939. Though he was not a musical person,
he probably played in more musicals than any musical star ever did! Another of my personal favorites. The "S. Z." comes from the first two letters of his last name (spelled properly), Szakall. It is said
that everyone always spelled his name without the z so he was forever saying "S-Z Sakall!" which is how he came to be known as S. Z. Sakall.
Famous quotes: "Sheeesh!"; "Nya! Nya! Nya!"

During WWII, Stewart enlisted in the Army Air Corps, and worked his way to Colonel, flying more than 1000 missions and
earning the Air Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He remained in the reserves after the war and eventually attained the rank of General. It was immediately after he returned from the war that
he made the classic It's a Wonderful Life, still a very popular film to this day. He continued making films into the 1990s, and did some radio and television work as well. James Stewart is

Lewis Stone (1879 - 1953)
Given name: Lewis Stone; born in Worcester, Massachusetts. Started in theater, became leading man in silent films (first film in 1915), major supporting actor and character actor in the talkie era
(largely due to his prematurely greying hair, which made him "unsuitable" for romantic leads). Served in WWI. Probably best remembered today as Andy Hardy's father and for his outstanding performance in the silent
film The Prisoner of Zenda, 1922.
Lewis Stone had that old-world charm, grace and elegance that is now gone forever. He had moral and ethical values (on-screen, at least) that are now considered backward and primitive. He is a
wonderful actor to watch because of his skill at his craft, and anyone can learn from his philosophies!

Ed Sullivan (1901 - 1974)
Television's "The Ed Sullivan Show" was an American institution from the time the average family began buying television sets until 1971. Many major guest stars appeared on Ed Sullivan over the
years, along with circus and novelty acts, opera divas, stage musical reenactments, and more things than can be imagined. The Ed Sullivan Show was probably the most interesting television variety
show of all time. Sullivan also appeared in a few movies, usually as himself.
