Sandra Dee (1944 - )
Given name: Alexandra Zuck; born in New Jersey. Child model / actress. Despite great popularity among teenagers in the late 1950s and
early 1960s, Sandra really never quite made the transition to adult roles. She became type-cast as a sweet, wide-eyed teen. But, as the
times grew more cynical in the 1960s, Sandra faded away with the (apparent) innocence of American culture. On-screen she was the
epitome of young femininity, eternal happiness and total innocence. She was spoofed by Stockard Channing in the movie Grease
(1978). Sandra was married to Bobby Darin (1960 - 1967).

Delta Rhythm Boys
Male quintet singing group
According to one source, Lee Gaines formed this quintet while studying at Langston University in Oklahoma in the mid-1930s. They recorded and traveled extensively, and (supposedly) appeared in more
films than any other singing group - 35 or so, though most of the films were low-budget shorts. Though they never became major stars, they are considered one of the pioneer groups of Rhythm and Blues
and they were quite popular here and there from time to time, especially in Europe. There were, apparently, some personnel changes over the years. People who were in the group at one time or another
include: Carl Jones, Chiemi Eri, Kelsey Pharr, Avery Brooks, Traverse Crawford.

Patty Duke (1946 - )
(aka Patty Duke Astin)
Given name: Anna Marie Duke. Actress / singer on stage, screen and televison. Born December 14, 1946 in Elmhurst, New York.
Began on Broadway ("The Miracle Worker"), which ran for two years. She then moved to
televsion and film. On Television, she played a dual role (Patty and her Scottish Cousin Cathy) in the sit-com "The Patty Duke Show," (1963 - 1966), where she became a heart-throb
for at least half the teenage boys in the U.S.
Patty reprised her role as Helen Keller in the movie version of The Miracle Worker,
garnering a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award - becoming the youngest ever to do so at age 16. Since then she has appeared in many
films and television programs, and she is still close to the hearts of most of us (ex-) teenage boys!
Now, though she still works, she is a mother and a political advocate for issues such as the ERA (Equal Rights Amendment), AIDS and
nuclear disarmament. Married to John Astin (1972 - 1985). Mother of Sean Astin and Mackenzie Astin.
