Ink Spots, The top of page
The Ink Spots
(aka The Four Ink Spots)

Singing group originally formed in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1932. The original members of the group were Ivory "Deek" Watson (? - 1967), Charles "Charlie" Fuqua (? - 1979), Orville "Hoppy" Jones (1905-1944) and Jerry Franklin Daniels (1916-1995). Bill Kenny replaced Jerry Daniels in 1936.

Biggest hit: "If I Didn't Care," 1939 (over 19 million copies sold!). The Ink Spots are still performing today, though there have been numerous changes in personnel over the years. The current members are Harold Winley, Sonny Hatchett, Grant Kitchings and Morris Dow. The groups' name was changed from The Four Ink Spots to The Ink Spots around 1945.

Inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1987, into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989, and into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1997.

Jose Iturbi  (1895 - 1980)

Very popular concert pianist, orchestra conductor, actor. Born in Valencia, Spain. In American films during the 1940s. Iturbi was at MGM through most of the 1940s. He was a good actor and very likeable. He has a good sense of comedy and is a wonderful pianist. A truly great man to watch!
